Mountaintop 2009’s featured speaker has been described as a singularly gifted teacher of God’s Word, offering a rare combination of real depth in biblical study and exposition with a warm, gentle pastoral touch. Since 2001, Dr. Sklar has been teaching at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, where he serves as Associate Professor of Old Testament, Associate Dean of Academics, and Director of the Master of Theology Program. A native of Canada, he received his B.S. from University of Waterloo in Ontario, his M.Div. from Boston’s Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and while living in the United Kingdom, earned his Ph.D. from The University of Gloucestershire. Now residing in St. Louis, Dr. Sklar has taught God’s Word in a wide variety of contexts. His heart’s desire is to make scriptures as clear as possible so that we might know best how to love, serve, and adore the Lord.

    My earnest desire is that attendees would come away from the weekend with a renewed passion to see God’s kingdom and glory spread in their own lives and the world, motivated by a free vision of His incomparable goodness and the unfathomable grace He has shown us in Jesus.     Dove-nominated recording artist and Worship Arts Pastor for The People’s Church in Franklin, TN, returns for his second visit to Mountaintop to lead the musical worship. Along with his band, this outstanding musician will also perform in concert at A Festival in Celebration of the Heart of God.

   Michael is a featured communicator and worship leader for various conferences around the country including Billy Graham’s The Cove. He has recorded several awe-inspiring projects as a writer, artist, and producer with Integrity Music. His new album, recorded live at The People’s Church, is scheduled for release by Mountaintop 2009.

His latest endeavor, a LIVE modern worship recording entitled No Greater Audience features twelve new awe-inspiring worship songs. Bigger Than Life was nominated for a 2006 Dove award in the Choral Collection of the Year category.

    Michael leads worship, directs the creative arts team, and serves on the executive strategic development team of The People's Church, a dynamic and growing multi-site church dedicated to producing passionate worshippers of Jesus. He is also a featured communicator and worship leader for various conferences around the country including Integrity's Seminars4Worship.

    While writing music is one of his passions, his greatest joy is “...seeing the people grow in grace, as they learn to follow Jesus and to surrender to Him in the life of worship they were ultimately designed for.” He lives in Franklin with his wife and two children.
